Coffee, followed by more coffee and perhaps another coffee. There is a tipping point, but I have yet to figure out the where and the when.

A very good cocktail. A far more reclusive and shy creature in these here parts. It was this lack, this scarcity, that forced me into making my own. Although there is the benefit of cost effectiveness, whereas many more delicious beverages may be consumed. Herein lies another cautionary tale about tipping points.

A good meal, more so shared with a good friend. I could go on and on about the soul deepening philosophy that I have formulated over the years regarding the necessity of creating whatever you find most satisfying to eat and sharing that with one of your chosen humans, but I won’t bore the pants off of you. I will mention a brilliant human named Anthony Bourdain and would recommend a listen to his wisdom pertaining to food and people and life, however.

If ever I received some substantial life advice, besides that of my family and close confidants, it was from a lovely man named Buck. Buck was nicknamed by yours truly and although he shirked from my cleverness at first, eventually he came round and saw the glittery annoying light that is me. He was a mentor and friend and I miss his snappy humor. He was also a gem of a human in this world. We often found ourselves seeing who was best with the sass and the snappy comebacks, But Buck made a comment that has sat with me until this day. To paraphrase, as this was many a moon ago, he said: you’re going to be alright in this life. I asked the very deep question of why he would think/say such a thing and he sort of shrugged his shoulders and said: well, you have a light inside you that will never go out. People don’t forget someone who is genuine; just keep being you and you’ll be fine. I said something along the lines of, well, I guess that’s why we’re friends and tucked that love deep in my heart. Here is the first telling of this tale. It’s been held a long time and I’m still alright in this life, still being me. And here we are.

Some of my favorite things…

A cocktail glass with a lemon wheel garnish on the rim, filled with a pale yellow drink, placed on a wooden surface with colorful fruit in the foreground and a blurred kitchen background.
Night sky with a crescent moon and silhouetted trees, power lines, and rooftops in the foreground.
A peaceful forest scene with dense green trees and a flowing creek with rocks.
A young man standing in the middle of a busy city street, wearing a colorful tropical shirt, plaid pants, a gray wide-brimmed hat, and white sneakers, holding a black folder, with people walking behind him.
A bundt cake decorated with edible flowers and powdered sugar on a blue and white plate placed on a wooden surface.
An ancient stone archway with remnants of decorative frescoes and worn bricks on a weathered wall.
